Ogilvy Equestrian Baby Pad

Best Saddle Pad Ever

I have seen these saddle pads for a couple of years now. And at first I thought they were just the latest trend in the hunter jumper world. But then after watching a video review from one of my YouTube subscribers, I decided to see what all the hub-bub was about, and if these pads are really worth the hype.

I went to Dover Saddlery, because I was sure they would have them. And they did. Looking at the pad, they looked pretty similar to regular saddle pads I have, that is until I picked it up. This pad is substantial. And from the moment I picked it up and held it, I knew this was something special.

The Details

This is the Ogilvy Jumper Baby Pad. It is about the same size as a regular saddle pad, but it has a few differences.

First, there are no billet straps on this pad. At first I was a little concerned by this, but after putting it on my horse’s back I realized the billet straps were not necessary. (I LOVE that!)

The second thing that is different is how the pad sits on the horses withers. It is raised up a little in the wither area, and when I put the pad on Frisby for the first time, it was as if this pad was custom made just for him! It was beautiful!

The underside of this pad is another area of special-ness. The underside has a brushed poly material which helps to keep the pad in place. It does not slip, move, wrinkle, or anything! From the time you put it on until you take it off, the pad will stay in the same place.

And even if it is hot outside, or your horse gets really sweaty from your workout, this pad is breathable, and keeps the moisture off of the horse. And the pad is antimicrobial and anti-fungal as well, so no little bugs growing on your saddle pad!

It is super easy to care for. To wash it, you just throw it in your washing machine on the gentle or delicate cycle, and wash and rinse in cool water and then hang it up to dry. It dries quickly, and will look like new after you wash it. I have found this out, because after using the pad on Frisby, I could see dust marks so I brought it in to wash. It dried really quickly too. That could have been because of the 20 mile an hour winds that always seem to be at our house, but, I’ll take it!

Riding In The Ogilvy

Now that the main introduction of the pad is out of the way, you may be wondering how does it ride? And I can tell you, this pad is incredible. I had thought a saddle pad was a saddle pad. That is, until I put this on my horse’s back.

I was very impressed with the feel of this pad, and how it works with my horse’s back, and with my saddle.

In my opinion the Ogilvy baby pad is not just a trend, It is a very well made saddle pad that is well worth it’s 39.99 price tag. I have never had a pad fit so well. And I never thought a saddle pad could make so much of a difference, but this one has.

If you are considering buying one of these pad, they are well worth it. And once you do, you will be wondering why you waited so long.

Where To Find Ogilvy Pads

I am fortunate enough to have a Dover Saddlery store about 30 minutes away from where I live, and it’s on my way home from work. If you don’t have a local Dover’s store, you could buy from them online. Or, you could go directly to the Ogilvy Equestrian website, and buy your pad directly from the source. And if you buy it directly from them, you can also customize your saddle pad by choosing your own colors.

It does take a little longer to have it shipped to you, but you are getting a custom saddle pad, created just for you. And the shipping is a little expensive at $20.00, but if you are getting a custom saddle pad, that may be worth it to you.

If you’re thinking you would like to try one, but that shipping makes the pad a little more than you would like to spend, and the thought of waiting 3 to 5 weeks for your saddle pad makes you cringe, just buy it from a local store, or Dover. I think you will find once you have tries this pad, you will find that it is worth it.
