If you are looking for a highlight recapping the incredible Summer in the Rockies Horse Show series from LEG Horse Shows, this is for you! I have been visiting the Colorado Horse Park every year for the last 7 or 8 years to watch these fantastic shows. And so far, this year seems to be the best yet!

I have to say I am a little mad with myself, though. You see, for this horse show, I only brought my nifty 50 lens for my camera, and that was a huge mistake.

Lessons Learned at the Horse Show

Summer in the Rockies Horse Show Series

I have been working on figuring out how to really use my camera. I have been learning and studying everything I can to take the best pictures possible. And while a 50 mm lens is great for close-ups, and getting shots of a much larger area,

It is not a good lens to get nice close-ups of horses moving fast in an arena.

Summer in the Rockies Horse Show Series

The Grand Prix started early this past Saturday. I’m not quite sure why the class was moved. Maybe it was because it was forecasted to be really hot. Or perhaps because they wanted to switch things up and have the Grand Prix, the class that pays the most money back, first thing in the morning.

I hope tomorrow’s Grand Prix goes in the afternoon. It’s only supposed to reach 80 degrees for the day. So hopefully, they will keep the class in the late afternoon. I guess we will see tomorrow.

Check Out the Show Grounds

But even though I couldn’t get near as many pictures of the horses in the Grand Prix, I did have a lot of fun moseying around the showgrounds and taking a few photos.

Walking around the barn area was a lot of fun, as was seeing what happens behind the scenes at the show.

To watching the show jumpers warming up before the big class. I was enjoying the going’s on at the horse show. If you want to learn while you are at a horse show, go stand by a warm-up arena.

Often, the top riders are warming up with their coaches. You can hear them being coached at a show. It’s pretty incredible to listen to.

The Extras at Colorado Horse Park

And the horse show is not just for watching the best horses and riders. Oh no—there is also shopping. I found the Farm Vet trailer and bought a few things. I really wanted to buy a broom I have been eyeing.

But I couldn’t remember how much it cost, and there weren’t any price tags. So I passed. I think I have to get this broom this week. It has fantastic reviews, and I need a new broom for my barn. The Dollar Tree broom just isn’t cutting it.

And Lynda and I FINALLY found where they have the Horse Park Swag!

It was tucked away in the horse show office! Oh my goodness, I know we were both excited to find this!

Not only did they have Colorado Horse Park items, but they even had things branded to the Summer in the Rockies shows!

And one of the most incredible things I have ever seen, competitors can trade in their blue ribbons for swag.

I had to buy a hat. I needed one, and I am so happy to support the horse park and the horse show.

I feel so lucky to have such an incredible venue close to my home. I can’t let the opportunity to watch every horse show that comes along to the horse park.

Even though this post is coming out very late, I will be back at the horse park tomorrow for another show. I will be sure to bring more than one lens for my camera. I can’t miss a chance to capture some beautiful moments.

They are having something new tomorrow. Something I have heard of at other shows but never seen at one of the Langer shows here in Colorado.

LEG Horse Shows Grooms class flyer

They are having a class after the Grand Prix just for the grooms! The men and women who work so hard to make the horses look their best will get their chance to win $500 in a class tailored just for them. I am very excited to see this class. It should be a lot of fun!
