There is just something so special about getting a surprise in the mail. And when that surprise has to do with horses…..well, then it is like the best surprise ever!
I have been buying Heart To Horse boxes for the last 8 months or so, and I have also been making videos of them on my YouTube channel, The Budget Equestrian (You should go check it out….shameless plug). But I don’t think a video once a month does this program justice. I want to share with you this incredible package you can get delivered to your home every month.
If you have never heard of The Heart To Horse Box, it is a monthly box you can purchase from places like State Line Tack, or Horse.com. It costs about $35.00 a month, but if you sign up for the auto ship program they have you will get 10% off, and free shipping. How is that for an enticement? Not only do you get cool horse stuff delivered to you, but you can save a little bit of money while you do it! Double score!
As an extra bonus, for every box they sell, they donate 25% of their proceeds to a horse rescue in need. This month the benificiary of the proceeds is Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue. So you are getting items that will help you with your horse, and you are also helping out another horse. How awesome is that?!?!? You also get a coupon code for 15% of an order at Horse.com
Ok, so I have given you the background of the box, now let’s get to the fun part!
What’s in the Box???
This review is for the September Heart To Horse Box. And let me start by saying this was an incredible month! Every item in the box was from Professional’s Choice, or Tail Tamer, which is also by Professional’s Choice. (I didn’t know that!) And just so you can see the value of this box, I will put the retail cost with each item, and then we will find out how much this $35.00 surprise box is really worth.
Professional’s Choice Hay Bag ($20.95)
I was so excited when I saw this in the box! A hay bag has been on my wish list since I decided I want to start showing Ethan next year. And this is a great, heavy duty hay bag. I didn’t take it out of the packaging, because I am ‘saving’ it to go into my horse show box. (More on that later!) But the hay bag is really nice. It has circular openings on both sides allowing the horse to eat, a mesh bottom so the loose hay will fall through, and you load the hay from the top. This is way better than the hay net I was thinking of buying!
Tail Tamer Flower Power Brush ($9.95)
This is a cool brush. The bristles are wavy, so hopefully they will make brushing through a tail tangle free. It is a very nice brush, and I was lucky enough to get it in purple. I don’t think you can ever have enough grooming items for your horses, wouldn’t you agree?
Professional’s Choice Hoof Pick ($9.95)
You can never have enough hoof picks right? And this one is beautiful. This is a really heavy duty hoof pick. It’s made of steel and has a silver overlay. And it has a hole in the end, so you could attach a rope, or something to make it so you could hang it up. Again, I think I will add this to my horse show box, in anticipation of horse shows this next year.
Tail Tamer Bale Cutter ($1.95)
I don’t know about you, but I always lose knives in my barn when I am searching for them do I can open a new bale of hay. Thankfully the hay I buy is baled with twine, so this will work for it. A while back my son brought home a huge collection of Subway sandwich knives, so this is what I typically use in the barn. But I will be taking this little tool and attaching a hanger to it so it will always be in the barn, in case I run out of knives.
Tail Tamer Bucket Brush ($5.95)
Again, the lady that packaged my box must have known my favorite colors, because I got this handy brush in lime green….my other favorite color! But seriously, this is a really nice brush for scrubbing buckets, as well as water tanks. It is heavy duty, and will reach all sides both inside and out of the buckets, or tanks. It will make cleaning the grimy stuff off a lot easier because of the longer handle. This will be much better than a typical kitchen scrub brush!
Professional’s Choice Bucket Strap ($4.95)
This is a really nice item to have, and I will use it! I know I would have never thought about something like this, until I got to a horse show. And no, you don’t have to have one, but it will make hanging a bucket a lot easier while my horse is tied to the horse trailer. This bucket strap appears to be very strong, and will be easy to use. Yes, yet one more item to go in my show box for the summer!
And there you have it, these are all of the items in the September Heart To Horse box, and if I would have bought these items separately, the total cost would be: $53.70, plus the shipping. So I think this month’s box was definitely worth the $35.00 investment.
Heart To Horse Box Yay or Neigh?
I LOVE getting this box every month! When I first started getting them, I figured I would try it for a month or two, and then stop, but I can’t stop! I look forward to getting the box every single month. And even though it does cost around $35.00, the value that I get from the items is worth much more than that. Yes, the retail cost is more, but also it encourages me to get out and spend even more time with my horses.
Another thing I like about this box subscription is you can stop any time you like. There is no minimum number of boxes you have to subscribe too, no cancellation fees, nada. You can do one month, or 10 or 20, it doesn’t matter. And they donate money to horse rescues, well that makes it even better in my opinion.
It seems each month is getting better and better, so I am not planning on stopping anytime soon. If you aren’t sure if this is something you would like to do, or if it would be of value to you, you should check out some of the videos I have made on previous boxes. Oh, and I also wanted to let you know that I have not received anything from this company for my review. I buy this box every month, and just wanted to share my experience with you, so you would be able to see what a great treat The Heart To Horse box really is!
Have you ever ordered one? What did you think? I would love to hear about it! Leave me a comment below with your opinion!
