Budget Equestrian Weekly Video Recap

Budget Equestrian Weekly Video Recap

It is time for a weekly video recap! And this week was pretty typical as far as getting videos uploaded is concerned. I was able to get 4 videos up for the week, which I am happy with. Yes, it would be awesome to be an over achiever and continue on the 5 videos a week path. But I know realistically I will not be able to continue that pace, especially since the time is getting ready to change tonight, and this means I will be able to be out riding more. And that also means less time spent inside editing videos, and writing articles.

That also means I do not have a lot of time left to get my jumps completed, so i can work on jumping them instead of building them! So this weekend I will be making a lot more jump building videos, in anticipation of actually being able to use the jumps this summer. And I also have a few jump ideas for my jump of the month, and hopefully I will be able to get the next one done, and a card made for it this weekend!

This week’s videos included my riding lesson tips, along with making some jumps, so how about we go over what I did get uploaded this week?

Monday – I’m Selling My Horse Stuff

I have been meaning to sell my excess horse equipment and tack for the past 6 months. And I finally got 55 auctions up on eBay this past weekend. And I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the things I am selling. So that is where this video idea came from. I still have a lot of items I need to get listed, but I decided I would stop at 55 auctions this week. It was a lot of work to get these auctions up. And when the auctions are completed, then I have to ship everything out.

I might take a week in between listing the next set of auctions. But I can tell you it is a super nice feeling to get rid of stuff I don’t need. It’s kind of like a cleansing. And it is so nice to not have so much stuff! I don’t need all of this stuff. And I don’t use all of the stuff that I have. So by selling it, I am giving someone else the opportunity to have what they need to make the most of their time with their horse, right?

Wednesday – 4 Rails = 10 Different Jumps

I had a lot of fun with this video. It could have been better though. I really wanted to set up the jumps in my arena, but that didn’t happen. The next time I do a video like this, I will do that. It will look better, and you can focus on the jumps. But for now, it is what it is! And having 10 different jump ideas is worth it, in my opinion.

I also wrote a blog post showing you the 10 different jumps. It goes along well with the video, and then you can visualize the jumps. One at a time, you could build jumps just like these for your own arena!

I wanted to share with you different jump ideas you can make with minimal components. And having just 4 rails can give you a lot of options. Now you probably won’t have 4 rails for each jump. But in time you can, simply by adding some new rails to your jump collection. It is affordable and easy to do. You just have to do it!

Thursday – Don’t Grip With Your Knees (Riding Lesson Tips)

This video had a lot of meaning for myself, personally. I have been challenged by this during my riding lessons. And I wanted to share it with the world, just in case any of you have this problem too. Getting it out there means you will think about it. And right now I find myself thinking about it every time I ride! And the goal is too stop it from happening, so I share that with you in the video as well.

I have no idea of when I started doing this, but now I find myself trying like heck to stop it. My riding instructor also is helping me to break this bad habit!

Friday – What To Do When You Have A Bad Riding Lesson

I think it is inevitable, you will have something not go well during a riding lesson. But hey, that’s why it’s a lesson, right? We are taking riding lessons to become better riders. And everything isn’t going to go perfect every lesson. Just remember, that is ok! It’s how you handle the bad that will make an impact. Don’t dwell on the bad. Find something during your lesson that went well, and focus on that.

Just like we want to end our training sessions on a good note, we should strive to do the same for ourselves.
