May Saddle Box Unboxing

I think this is now just about one year that I have been subscribed to Saddle Box, a monthly surprise subscription for horse people. And I am a huge fan of these subscription boxes. It is so much fun to get a surprise in the mail each month, especially when it has anything to do with horses.

Saddle Box seems to be teaming up with some really great companies in the past, and this month is no exception. Something else they are doing is they have been choosing a horse ambassador of the month. And for May they actually chose 3 horses to be their ambassadors. I am not quite sure what you get as an ambassador if your horse is chosen, but I am sure they tell you over on their website.

So how about we go over what came in this month’s Saddle Box?

Horse Treats

I love starting off sharing what came with the treats! This is my horses’ favorite part of the box. And this month we got a bag of caramel apple horse chips. On the package it says you can feed them individually, or sprinkled over something, like his grain. These treats smell great, and I know my horses will love them.

They also always include a hard candy stick, which sometimes I save for myself, or break up for the horses to share.

Epona Tiger’s Tongue Sponge

I am not sure if this really is a sponge, but it kind of looks like one. When I opened the package, the sponge increased in size. On the packaging it says it’s a flexible scrubber to be used wet or dry. It helps to remove sweat marks from saddlery, and buffs hoof walls. Being able to use it wet or dry is definitely a bonus. Hopefully the rain stops tomorrow so I can put this sponge to the test before and after I ride my horses.

Espree Concentrated Fly Spray

This looks really awesome, and smells even better. I had to open the bottle to do a sniff test, and when I did I could smell the citronella oil. That’s when I looked at the ingredients, and the main ingredients are essential oils. I love that!

It also says it is a coat conditioner, and it has a sunscreen in it too. So it will protect your horse in the sun, keep flying pests away and condition his coat, what more could you ask for in a fly spray? And the bottle is 5 ounces. So you add 25 ounces of water to a sprayer, and then add in this concentrate. I hope this stuff works well, because if it does, I might have a new fly spray for my boys.

Fiebing’s Satin Sheen Coat Polish

I have used Fiebing’s products before, and they have worked pretty well. I have never seen their coat polish, so I am excited to try it out. It is a small bottle, only 4 ounces, but it says it is a detangler for manes and tails as well.

It smells ok, not as good as Mrs. Conns products. But if it works, it works, right? The only thing I didn’t like is there isn’t an ingredients list on the bottle. I would like to know what it is I am putting on my horses.

Aluminum Pulling Comb

This looks like a nice comb, nothing fancy, just an aluminum pulling comb. But the end has a bit of a hook to it. I’m almost thinking I could use it as a hoof pick, maybe?

I am not a fan of pulling my horses’ manes, but this comb would work well once their manes are combed out. Or even for sectioning for braiding.

Horses Book with DVD

I love that Saddle Box includes books in their monthly subscription boxes. I do like the photo style books, it gives me ideas of new photo poses I can work on with my horses. And this book has a DVD in the back of it. I’m not sure when I will watch it, but it should be entertaining right? I mean, it is about horses after all!

The photo’s in the book are really nice. And there are quotes to go along with the pictures. It’s nice to get inspiration, especially when it comes to horses.

Tangle Wrangler Brush

I have never seen a brush like this, but it looks cool. The tangle wrangler looks like a standard brush, but it is cut down in sections. It says it works well to help manage tangles. I will have to put it to the test to see how well it really works.

Good People For Good Horses Stickers

Remember when I said how Saddle Box was teaming up with some great companies? Well this is a great company. The company is called The Right Horse and they promote adoption of horses. There are so many rescues with so many great horses available for people to adopt. And I am a huge proponent of giving a horse a second chance. Almost as much as I am a proponent of buying a horse and keeping him forever.

Yes, I know circumstances change for people, or they don’t mesh with a horse they have bought. And I have had horses in the past that I didn’t work well with, so I sold them. But as I have grown older (and hopefully wiser) I understand that having a horse is a commitment. Which is why I think it is vitally important to commit yourself to your horse, just like you would a family member. The Right Horse is trying to change the way people think about finding a horse. They are promoting adoption and horse rescues to help get people connected with the right horse. How cool is that?

Saddle Box Yay or Neigh?

I love Saddle Box. And I have been really happy with what comes in the box each month. I will continue my subscription for as long as I can, because of the surprises that come every month. They also have a YouTube channel where they give you a sneak peek of what is coming in the upcoming months box. And if you are looking for a great gift idea for your favorite horse person, the Saddle Box is a fantastic gift idea!

They have introduced me to some horse products I would have never tried, because I didn’t know of them, until it came in my monthly box.

So if you love surprises, and love anything related to horses, you should really give them a try. It costs 34.95 a month and the box ships for free. You can go to their website and sign up for your own box. And be sure to tell them Lisa, the Budget Equestrian sent you!
