OPHENA- An Equestrian Company Review and Sale!

Ophena Product Review

I recently made a purchase from Ophena. They are the company that makes those fancy magnetic safety stirrups that I first saw at a horse show earlier this year. And before I commit to spending a LOT of money on a pair of stirrups, I wanted to buy a few less expensive things and test them out. So I thought I would share my thoughts with you and do an Ophena product review of the things I bought.

I made a video of everything I bought from Ophena, and it’s pretty funny. It’s funny because you can watch me try to open packages with my ‘dead’ arm. If you need a laugh, you should check it out.

Seriously though, I am doing okay, my shoulder just really hurts. But this shall pass. And as of today, only 5 weeks left to go in my sling! #countdown

Ophena Product Review

After I received my package from Ophena, I learned they are having a HUGE sale that ends in 4 days! I wish I had known, and I would have waited! But- now YOU know, so you can save some money in case you want to check out what they have on sale.

I bought a few things. A saddle pad, a stirrup cleaning system, some riding tights, and an activewear t-shirt. So I thought I would share my thoughts on what I bought.

Ophena Evolution Saddle Pad

When I saw this saddle pad, I was impressed. It has a honeycomb bottom layer to keep the air flowing, making it breathable. And it definitely has a lot of cushion to protect the horse’s back. I thought I was buying it on sale. But I guess when I put the other sale items in my cart, it took away the sale price I thought I was paying for the saddle pad. So I ended up paying $129 for this pad, which is double what I thought I was paying.

And when I opened the package, the pad looked smaller than I thought it would be. Which I thought was odd, until I looked at the tag.

They sent a pony size pad, which is a bummer because they are sold out of the full size pad that I thought I had ordered. I did put it under my saddle to see how it would fit. And I’m torn, do I keep it and make due? Or do I send it back for a refund? I haven’t decided yet. It is a nice pad, but I thought it was on sale, which it wasn’t. Or at least I didn’t get the sale price for whatever reason.

Stirrup Cleaning Kit

All right, the stirrup cleaning kit is awesome. I was pleasantly surprised with this kit. I have never seen something like this before, but I can say after trying it, it works! With the bamboo-backed brush, I was able to easily clean my stirrups.

And once I had scrubbed the stirrup with the brush, I was able to easily polish my stirrup with the microfiber towel that is included in the kit.

So I am very happy with this purchase because it works just as it is described.

Full Seat Riding Tights

Ophena Product Review

I got the riding tights because if I bought the tights, I got the T-shirt for free. I think getting this offer – canceled out the savings on the saddle pad. However, the tights are really nice. The silicone seat is really sticky. I like that a lot.

The tights have nice large pockets too, which is perfect for keeping a large cell phone secure while riding.

Ophena Activewear T-Shirt

Ophena Product Review

I really like the T-shirt. The material is super soft and seems breathable, which is perfect for hot weather riding. It’s very lightweight.

Ophena Product Review

I think this will be a really comfortable outfit for riding. And I like the simplicity of it. With the type of material, I don’t think I will need to worry about wrinkles either.

Ophena Product Review

Overall, I am happy with what I got from Ophena. With the exception of the saddle pad. Which makes me a little leary of spending over $300 for a pair of stirrups. Especially when I have a very nice pair of stirrups already.

american equus stirrups

The stirrups I have are from American Equus, and I do love them. They are very comfortable, and I think the way they are rounded is helpful in case I were to have a fall. Which I would prefer doesn’t happen. I have had them for over two years, and they still look brand new. Especially after being cleaned with the stirrup cleaning kit from Ophena.

But I did find a Sisal Bristle Brush on Amazon for $7.

It isn’t exactly the same as the Ophena Set, but if it works, why not? You would have to find an ultra-fine microfiber towel too. So during the Ophena sale for a few more days, it might make more sense to get the stirrup cleaning kit. I’m glad I bought it.

I guess time will tell if I decide to buy a pair of their magnetic stirrups.

Ophena magnetic stirrups

The magnetic stirrups are on sale right now too. But the sale ends in like 4 days. So if you are looking for a deal, you need to act quickly! I would love to hear your thoughts. Let me know what you think!
