tasia6Ok, so most of my free time is eaten up by horsey-time. But just because I love horses doesn’t mean I eat sleep and dream them 24-7(Ok, I do, but that’s beside the point.) But like everyone else with horses, there has to be some time left over for everything else that happens on a daily basis.

My husband and I have one more daughter at home that is getting ready to begin her senior year in high school. This means a very busy year ahead of us, and for now that means it’s time for senior pictures to celebrate her final year in high school, and her final year at home full time.

So instead of spending $400 or more on senior photos, I take the photos. She is the fourth of our children, so by now I think I have a pretty good handle on this, and since I take photos for my blog, videos, and at an occasional horse show, I have a lot of practice.

I love my camera, and I love taking photos. My husband often will refer to me as the paparazzi, because I am always taking photos of everything. The kids, or dogs, my horses, the dirt…….yes, literally everything. I bought my cameras long before I ever considered creating a website or blog. But the cameras I own have helped me immensely when it comes to making videos and taking a few pictures for an article.not always horses
not always horses

The camera’s I have are a Nikon D610 (what I used for these photos) and a Nikon D3200. I have enjoyed these cameras, and they do double duty because I use them for recording my videos as well as taking thousands of photos around my home.

And having the cameras has helped me to earn a few extra dollars here and there by selling photos on stock photography sites, and art sites. I have also saved money with them because I make my own art to hang on my walls (this will be a completely different post later!) and also to give as gifts.

If you love photography, and have a DSLR camera you can becoming a part time photographer for a little extra cash, as well as decorating your home with artwork that you have created. You can also make a little extra money by selling stock photos, or art prints on websites like art.com.

Just an idea of how to make the most of something you may already have and even though it isn’t all about horses, it might give you a little extra money to support your horse habit!
