Journal Entry for January 5, 2024

January 5, 2024

I am so glad it’s Friday. With this being my first almost full week back to work, it was a lot. Hopefully, this will get easier. And one thing I am really looking forward to is my vacation, which is coming up beginning January 29th. I have never looked so forward to being off from work. Sure, I was off for 8 weeks because of having surgery. But I feel like my shoulder is getting back to normal now. I have been sleeping better, and I definitely have a better range of motion in my arm. So, all in all, I am very glad that I chose to have this surgery. And soon, I am hoping that I can get back to my pre-surgery life.

Planning Ahead

Vacation time is coming soon. I am thinking that being off for 2 weeks will help immensely. I sure hope the weather is better by the time I am off.

I have my doctor’s appointment on January 25th. And I am hoping at that point I get the all-clear to begin riding again. Fingers crossed!!!

I have ordered the missing pieces that I need to get going in my dressage quest. Everything else I already have. So all I need to do now is have my plan in place to make it all happen.

The baby’s birthday is on January 28th, so we will have a birthday party to go to – which will be fun. But the rest of my vacation will be an at-home vacation where I can spend some time (hopefully) riding Jesse.

Goal Setting Within a Goal

My plan will be to ride 3 days the first week and then 4 days the following week – if the weather cooperates. And Jesse has been doing very well with staying active when I turn him out in the arena. I know it’s separation anxiety from his buddy, but I’ll take it.

I also want him to get back into the habit of having a job. Over the winter, he has had a lot of downtime, and so have I. So we both need to get back into shape.

And speaking of shape, I weighed myself today and I was 178.4 lbs. That’s a good thing!

My bridle is supposed to be here on Monday. And my books should be here tomorrow, which will give me something to focus on while I am getting my plan in place.

Equestrian Daily Writing

I can’t wait for the time change in March. These short days are horrible for horse people. I leave when the sun is barely up, and by the time I get home, it’s already dark. But my vacation will give me a reprieve with some much-needed home and horsey time.
