As promised, but a bit delayed, as you can see by the title of this blog post, this is the helmet I chose! This is my formal and official IRH Equi-Pro SV Wide Sun Brim Riding Helmet review!
In my last blog post, I shared some different riding helmets with you from Riding Warehouse. And I also said that my next blog post would be a reveal and review of the helmet I chose. If you subscribe to my YouTube channel, then you would know which helmet I chose because I did an unboxing video of my last order from Riding Warehouse.
And in the video I showed the up close view of the IRH helmet if you wanted to check it out. And just from taking it out of the box, I love it!

IRH Equi-Pro SV Wide Sun Brim Riding Helmet Review
The first thing I noticed, besides how pretty the helmet is, was how light the helmet is. This thing is VERY lightweight. This is a definite plus in my opinion. When I put it on, it didn’t really feel like I had anything on my head.
And the venting system is awesome. There are lots of tiny vents all over the helmet to help keep my head cool. I’m not sure if it’s just me, or if other have this problem in riding helmets, but my head gets HOT. And I would much rather be focusing on riding my horse, and not how hot I am in a helmet.
And so far, I am very happy with how the IRH helmet seems to keep the air circulating around my head.

Something else I love about this helmet is the dial system.

With the dial, I can change the size of the helmet, so I get a more custom fit. I couldn’t do this in my One K helmet. If my head is bigger, or smaller depending on the day, I can customize the fit of the helmet with a simple turn of the dial. I love that!
And the IRH helmet is so comfortable to wear!

I think it looks pretty good too!
So Many Colors!
I was a little concerned about choosing a color other than black. But when I got to see the grey color that I chose in person, I loved it. It’s fun, and a little different. I am not sure how well received a grey helmet would be in the A show ring. But I wouldn’t have second thoughts about wearing it in a local show. I think it looks very nice with my everyday riding clothes, and I like the contrast of the grey with my navy show coat.
I like to buck the system, and wear non-traditional colors. Sure I would stand out, but isn’t that the idea? You want to be noticed right? And as long as your ride goes perfect, this could be just the thing you need to have the judge notice you.
The gray color has a matte finish. So it isn’t glossy, or shiny. I like the grey because it doesn’t show fingerprints or dust as easily as my black helmet does.

One of the biggest reasons I chose this helmet was because of the visor. This helmet has a larger sun visor than most helmets that I have seen. And because of that, I don’t have to add an additional sun brim. I like that a lot.

And the connector, you know the buckle that you click together to keep the helmet on your head? It is very easy to use. Even if you are wearing gloves.
Affordable Riding Helmet
This helmet has all of the safety features I was looking for, and it keeps my head cool while offering a lot of shade from the sun. But the best part about this helmet is how affordable it is. At the time of writing this blog post, you can get the IRH Equi-Pro SV Wide Sun Brim Riding Helmet for $69.95 at Riding Warehouse. Not bad right?
When I bought my One K Helmet I spent $249.95. And at Riding Warehouse, it’s still that price. That was over 3 years ago. Funny fact, for some reason I have had it stuck in my head that I need to replace my helmet every 3 years. But I have since learned that as long as the helmet has not been involved in a fall, it’s actually 5 years. So if you have a riding helmet that is over 5 years old, it’s time for a new one.
And IRH also has a program that they offer if your helmet is damaged, and you need to replace it because it has been in a fall, they have a replacement policy. Meaning if my gorgeous new riding helmet gets damaged because I fall off my horse, I can replace it for a minimal fee. This replacement policy is effective for 3 years after purchasing the helmet. This is probably where I was thinking the helmet needed to be replaced after 3 years.

But I am very happy that they have this option. Because there is nothing worse than getting a new helmet, and then falling off your horse, and having to replace your brand new helmet! But, safety first right? So if I do fall off, and have to get a new helmet at least it won’t cost a lot of money.
And I would have never known about this program if I didn’t buy my helmet at Riding Warehouse. They have a clickable link right on the description portion of the helmets. Thanks Riding Warehouse, definitely a bonus point there.
IRH Equi-Pro SV Wide Sun Brim Riding Helmet Yay or Neigh?
Before I made my decision and shared my thoughts on this helmet with you, I really wanted to use it. That’s why it’s been a bit since I posted my review. I wanted to really make sure I had a thorough understanding of all the pro’s and con’s of the helmet.

And after having it, and being able to use it for a full 10 days, I think this is definitely a great helmet. I am very happy with the choice I made. I love it! It’s very comfortable to wear, it’s easy to care for, and it looks great while keeping my head safe. I don’t have any negatives. There is nothing bad about this helmet, again, in my opinion.
If I had a choice between a new One K Defender, and the IRH Equi Pro Helmet, and there was no cost involved, I just got to choose one for myself…
I would choose the IRH Equi Pro Helmet. That pretty much sums up how great this helmet is. Don’t you think?
I Love Riding Warehouse
And even though it took me a hot minute to write my review post, Riding Warehouse had my helmet, and all of my other treasures to me in 3 days. Yep, 3 days was all it took for my order to get to me. And this was just the regular shipping. I didn’t pay the extra $5.00 for super fast shipping because well, getting my package in 3 days is plenty fast enough for me. And I’m cheap, I shouldn’t leave that out.

So, hopefully you found this helpful. And in case you are looking for a new riding helmet, I would highly encourage you to check out Riding Warehouse. From my personal shopping experience, they have the largest selection of riding helmets as well as the best prices. This is why Riding Warehouse is the first place I look for new riding apparel.
