A couple of months ago I posted about something new that I had tried to help keep me on track with getting back to a healthy weight, its called Diet Bet. And it really helped me to stay focused and lose weight. I lost 8 lbs the first time I did this, and I have been pretty good at keeping it off. But in order to continue on the right path, I decided to do it again.
With summer right around the corner, and wanting to look good in my breeches, I am doing it again! And I thought I would write about it here, in case you want to join me on the journey to getting a little bit more fit and feeling better about how I look and feel overall. The Diet Bet I am participating in starts on Monday, May 6, 2019. And I chose this Diet Bet because of all of the prizes that have been included, along with the potential for earning a little bit of cash.
I am very competitive and having the potential for earning a little bit of extra money is a wonderful incentive for me. In fact, the last Diet Bet I did win, and I rewarded myself with a new pair of stirrups.
That bet had 279 players with 136 winners splitting the pot of $8370. And while I had a lot of fun in that group, the organizer didn’t have a current game going that I could join. So I decided to find a game that had a little more. And the game I chose is called LIIFT4Summer with Joel. There are a lot of prizes up for grabs, as well as a much higher pot. Which means a greater return on my original investment of $40.00.
How Diet Bet Works
Diet Bet is a tool that work for me, because I hate to lose money. I make an investment of $40.00 ($35.00 for the game, and $5.00 for the Diet Bet membership fee for the game) and then I need to lose 4% of my body weight in 4 weeks. This means I have to lose about 7 lbs. I can do this.
If you want to participate, its pretty simple. You go to their website, DietBet.com and find a game you want to join. (Why not join the game I’m in? LIIFT4Summer with Joel ) And then sign up. Then, you submit an official weigh in photo using their website, or your phone. There is an app in both the Apple store, and Android for your phone. For all official weigh-ins, you’ll be prompted to submit your official starting weight. Their standard weigh-in process involves you submitting 2 photos: one of you standing on a scale in lightweight clothing (no shoes, hats, belts, watches, coats, or outerwear), and another of the scale’s readout with your weigh-in word written on a piece of paper. It’s pretty simple really, and it’s a LOT of fun!
Keeping Up Your Motivation
And then to keep your motivation throughout the game, Diet Bet offers weekly giveaway prizes when you submit an official weigh in throughout the game. Every Wednesday they have a weekly challenge where you can win some really fantastic prizes. So you get a chance to win some great prizes, while you are getting healthier, and losing weight, how great is that?
I’m really hoping I can win the FitBit Inspire HR, because my band on my current fitness band just broke. And I love wearing my fitness tracker, I hope I can make my current one last until they have the drawing for this one!
I’m sure Ethan will appreciate every pound I lose, and I know I will! I also find that submitting weight photos throughout the challenge really help me to stay on track, and I can see the changes in how I look, which is also very motivating to continue losing weight.
It has been just about a full year since I had my hysterectomy, and I weigh about a pound less than I did at my two week check up. I want to continue the downward trend on my weight, and keep it off, and Diet Bet really has really helped me to do this.
Diet Bet Challenge
Are you up for a challenge? Want to lose some weight with me? Want the chance to earn a little extra money? Then sign up for the Diet Bet with me! I have included links all over this post to the game I am participating in. It begins on Monday, May 6, 2019 so you still have time to join in. I don’t receive anything for you signing up or joining a game, I just wanted to share this with you, in case you are up for a challenge, and would like to lose a little weight.
And if you are looking for extra motivation, or different tools you can do to help make your bet a successful one, I will be posting different things that I’m doing in order to be successful for my game, starting with today…
Balance Ball Riding
I have been having a lot of fun with my balance ball, and it is helping me to not only improve my balance, but I am also improving my fitness level for riding, when I can’t ride. And to up my game, and continue my challenge, I have bought a step to use with my balance ball. The step I bought is called the Step Studio Platform.
I put my ball on top of the step to make it a little taller, and to make it a little more challenging. I found it on Amazon, and it is awesome! I can use it as a work out tool too, but so far I have been using it as a platform for my balance ball. And then I find a horsey program to watch while I bounce and balance on the ball.
It has helped me with my balance in the saddle, and I feel more confident of my position, which transfers to my brain, which shows my horse that I’m not afraid, and I trust enough in myself that I can handle whatever he throws at me.
If you don’t have a exercise/balance ball, you can find them on Amazon too.
And I am going to do some meal prep for the upcoming week, so if you need inspiration, I will post that later this week.
Ready, Set, Gooooooo!
Alright, we have a few days before the first official weigh in, but I am going to get started now in anticipation for the upcoming challenge. Are you with me? Great! We can support each other a long the way. And one more benefit I have found with this plan is the habit it establishes. It takes about 30 days to set a habit, and with this challenge being about 30 days long (it’s 28 days total), it can help you to continue on your own journey. So here we go, lets get ready to lose some weight, and look great for this summer while we are riding and working with our horses!
