Getting Ready for The New Year
I don’t know why, but I LOVE taking down my Christmas decorations almost more than I love putting them up. Maybe it’s because I don’t really like clutter, and our decorations make our hose feel very cluttered. And maybe it’s because it has become a habit that the weekend after Christmas, I always take down my decorations, and the house gets a thorough cleaning.
Or maybe it’s because my entire house feels, looks, and smells clean. Or perhaps it is because everything is put away in it’s place. I don’t know. But whatever the reason, I use this weekend for basically a spring cleaning of my entire house. And I love it!
Now granted my version of a clean home is probably different than yours, but clean is clean, right? I don’t spend money on hiring a house cleaner. I can find a lot of other things to use the money I would spend on having someone else clean my house. So it may not be fancy, but it’s tidy. And I’m ok with that.
For the past week, many of the incredible Christmas gifts we received were just put aside, or piled up. But after all of the decorations were put away, it’s time for all of the gifts to find their permanent homes. And it was even time to do a little decluttering of our closet, and get rid of some of the things we don’t really use.
Scrub A Dub Dub
And while I was cleaning, it gave me the perfect opportunity to use the black facial mask my incredible kids got me for Christmas.
My skin does feels softer, so hopefully it worked!
And I did get an extra gift for my husband and myself. I took advantage of the Christmas sales, and found an awesome velvety Comforter set for our bed. My husband just shakes his head, but I love it! And it was on sale, and had free shipping. So it was a great deal, and easily gave our bedroom a fresh look. Hopefully Harley’s hair will be more difficult to see from when he sheds all over the bed. Time will tell.
But this weekend is a time for cleaning and organizing. Something I do every New Year’s Eve, in anticipation of a fantastic new year. No, we don’t go out to celebrate, but rather stay home, and get excited for our plans for the upcoming year.
I am fortunate that my job gives me New Year’s Day off, I love working in a clinic. So New Year’s Day will be reserved for goal setting for the upcoming year. And I just love being able to do that in a clean house!
And I Can’t Forget The Horses
And yes, the barn will be organized too. I received some pretty great horse related gifts this year, so of course I have to get the barn looking spiffy too.
My horse’s are still in their winter hiatus, so even though they will be groomed, and their stalls cleaned. I will not be riding. I am a fair weather rider, so during the winter their days are filled with eating, napping and just being pasture ponies.
Which gives me more time to work on building some jumps, and crafting some new videos for my YouTube channel.
So even though this time of year slows down for my horses, it in no way slows down for me. It’s just figuring out how to use the time that I do have to the best of my ability. This is probably the cleanest my home will be throughout the year, because I do have so much time where I am not spending all of my time with my horses!
Clean Home = Happy Home
SO I will enjoy it, for the time being, and later on in 2018 when my house is in dire need of a good cleaning, I will refer back to this post, and see what it can be, when I have time to actually clean!
