30 Day Blogging Challenge Day 28-My Favorite Ribbon Won at a Show and Why
Here we are at day number 28 in my 30-day blogging challenge! This is 28 days down, only 2 more to go! I am so close to being done with this challenge. And I’m not going to lie, posting for 30 days, mostly in a row has been hard! If you have been following this series for a while now, you will no doubt have a very good understanding of what my horses mean to me. As well as my goals, and plans. I found the idea for this series from the incredible blog She Moved To Texas, she did a 30-day blogging challenge and decided to emulate what she had done. And today is a new day, so a new topic; my favorite ribbon won at a show and why.
My Favorite Ribbon Won at a Show and Why

This one has not happened, yet. But I am hopeful it will happen this summer. I have had Ethan now for about a year and a half. And he was meant to be a companion to Frisby. When I bought him, I did not really have the intention of showing. But after working with him, I started to get the horse show bug again. That is something that has not happened for a very long time. But this horse is incredible. And after letting him settle in, and get used to me and the way I work, he is really developing into an amazing horse.
I can work with him and he is quiet, and responsive. This is very different from Frisby. Ethan wants to work. This horse has a HUGE heart.

Which I believe is the reason I want to show again.
At first I thought it would be to take Ethan to a hunter jumper show, but the more I work with him, I think we will start with a little local show, and then move up to a dressage show. I am focusing on his flat work, and moving from a walk trot canter class to a dressage class seems like a logical progression. And then after he gets a few shows under his girth, then maybe we will look at the hunter jumper ring. But as I get older, just being able to compete would be a huge accomplishment.
A horse show is merely a test. It’s like when you are in school, and preparing for a test. To me, that is what a horse show is. A test of how well I have been studying with Ethan. And if we place in a class, then I have been doing a good job. If I place first, then I did a REALLY good job.
And that is the ribbon I am most looking forward to this summer. I want a first-place ribbon with Ethan.
The Why
I feel that by starting small, and going to a local show will set us up for success, rather than going to an A rated hunter show, and failing. That would only destroy his confidence, as well as my own. We all have to start somewhere right? And I am choosing to start at a small local show, and then we will see how it goes.

I have a timeline for my plan, and with the time change getting ready to happen (yay!) I have a 6-week training time frame for Ethan. This will give us plenty of time to prepare for our first show. I plan on posting his progress here, so if you want to follow along, you can. Or if you are also looking at going to your first show this summer, maybe you can share your progress with me too.

I have not won my favorite ribbon in a show yet, but I intend too. We will see what happens over the next few months, and then maybe I can post an update to this one, and share with you the first ribbon I ever won with Ethan.
