What The Heck Is StitchFix???
Ok, I am going a little out of the realm of equestrian style posts. But I tried StitchFix for the first time last month and I loved it. So I thought I would share this subscription service with you, because it is a lot of fun!
I am very fashion challenged. I have no sense of fashion. I typically wear clothes that are functional and comfortable. I mean, I basically wear PJ’s to work, because I’m a nurse. So scrubs, and t-shirts and jeans. That is the extent of my wardrobe. But it is nice to have an outfit or two that isn’t horse, or work related. Heaven forbid if my husband and I go on a date, or if I have to go to a conference. Because business casual is not a world I am familiar with.
StitchFix Personal Stylist
Enter StitchFix! If you have never heard of this program, StitchFix is an online company where you have a personal stylist working for you, and trying to figure out what would look good on you, clothing wise.
You go to their website, StitchFix.com, and fill out a questionnaire. And when you sign up, you pay a $20.00 styling fee, and then a stylist picks out 5 clothing items to send to you to see if you love. And what makes this fun, is you get to try the clothing on in your home. You get 3 days to decide what you are going to keep, and you ship back the items you don’t want in the postage paid envelope.
You choose how often you get a ‘Fix’ shipped to you, and you can update your questionnaire whenever you like.
And to give you an idea of what you get in a StitchFix box, I thought I would share with you what came in the box for my Stitchfix.
First, they have a card with the different pieces they send you, and they give you ideas of how to wear the pieces. I like this a lot, and I am hopeful they will send items from the card, related to the other items I have purchased.
And in the box are 5 different items for you to try on, and see if you love enough to keep. And these are the items I got.
Kaileigh Jonesman One Shoulder Knit Top $34.00 (Keep)
I really liked this top. It was super soft, and affordable. I wasn’t sure about the cut out one shoulder, but after I watched the video I made, I really likes it and decided to keep it.
Bancroft Sabina Link Layered Necklace $28.00 (Keep)
I am not a jewelry person. I wear my wedding rings, and that is typically it. But, I really liked this necklace. It is pretty! And I actually am thinking of giving it as a gift. Because I know someone else who will love this, and they will wear it. So I got to try on a pretty necklace, and I already have a Christmas gift for someone now. Let the early Christmas shopping season begin!
Silver Jeans Co Tuesday Low Rise Skinny Jeans $79.00 (Return)
I really loved the way these jeans looked. But when I tried them on, they made me very self-conscious of how I looked in them. And I am trying to lose weight, and I thought “well maybe, if I lose weight, I will look good in these…..” Not a good enough reason to justify a $79.00 pair of jeans. But they were really nice. Maybe when I do lose 15 lbs. then I will seek out the jeans. And if you are wondering what they looked like on, I am wearing them in the majority of these photos, with the shirts.
Clarte Claire Embroidery Detail Top $108.00 (Return)
Now this top is cute. It is probably even cuter when it’s ironed. But the cost was a little higher than I would spend on a top. And just knowing that I would need to iron it makes me not want it. But it was fun to try on a top that costs $108.00!
Cloth & Stone Georgino Button Down Shirt $78.00 (Keep)
Even though it needs to be ironed, I LOVE this shirt! This shirt is totally my style, and it is really versatile. Yes, it is $78.00, BUT I know I will wear it. And it is soooooo soft! This is completely my style, so this was definitely a keeper for me.
So of everything they sent me, I am keeping 3 items. I deduct my styling fee, that I already paid, $20.00, and then I just pay for the remaining balance. And it is so easy to do this, I just log in to my StitchFix account, and tell them what I loved, what I didn’t love, and why. Then I am all set up to get my StitchFix next month.
And if you love everything they send you in your monthly fix, and keep everything, you get an extra 20% off the entire box! I can’t wait until I get a box that I love everything! If I would have done that with this month’s box, I would have saved $81.00!
For right now, I am going to do this every month, and see what the send me. I love getting professional fashion help so StitchFix is a great way for me to try on some clothes that someone else thinks might be right for me.
