Home Made Body Cream

Home Made Body Cream

Home Made Body CreamThe cold weather has taken its usual toll on my skin. Dry, itchy and cracked skin seems to happen every winter, especially when I have been outside working. But I have found something that actually helps better than any expensive cream or lotion you can buy in a store. My favorite part of this cream is that I make it myself. It is very inexpensive, and is made from all natural ingredients.

I have used this cream for a daily moisturizer, as well a body cream.  A little goes a long way, so one tub of the cream lasts over 6 months. It is great for feet too. And you can add some essential oils when you are making it if you would like it to have a scent. I prefer mine plain, allowing the subtle hint of honey from the beeswax. Having just the natural scent makes it appealing to both men and women.

The ingredients are easy to find, and the best prices I have found is on Amazon. If you have a prime membership, usually the shipping is free as well as fast.

I promise, this is the best multipurpose beauty cream you will ever use.

Have I peeked your interest? If so, the recipe is below!

Home Made Body Cream

  • What You Need:
  • 1/2 cup sweet almond or olive oil
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup beeswax pastilles
  • 2 Tablespoon Cocoa Butter
  • Essential Oils, Vanilla Extract or other natural extracts if you would like to add any

What you will do:

Combine the sweet almond oil, coconut oil, beeswax and cocoa butter in a pint sized or larger glass jar. I use a quart size glass canning jar that I use for making all of my lotions that works very well, and I know it can withstand the heat of being on the stove, because it is a canning jar. You could reuse a glass jar from pickles, or items like that if you don’t have a canning jar.

Fill a medium saucepan with a couple inches of water and place over medium heat.

Put a lid on the jar loosely and place in the pan with the water.

As the water heats, the ingredients in the jar will start to melt. Stir occasionally to incorporate all of the ingredients. It will take about 10-15 minutes for it to become a liquid mixture.

When all ingredients are completely melted, remove from the heated surface, and if you want to add essential oils, this is when you will do it. Then pour your lotion into whatever jar or tin you will use for storage. 2 to 4-ounce wide mouth jars work really well for storage.

This is a very thick cream, so it will not work with a pump.

Use as you would regular lotion. All of the ingredients in this recipe are shelf stable, meaning this lotion will have a longer shelf life than some homemade lotion recipes. It is best to use it in about 8 months for best benefits.

This cream is potent, so remember, a little goes a long way. If you get itchy dry skin, this will do the trick. Try it on your feet, as well as your elbows, and even your face. It is very moisturizing and long lasting.

Once you have made this, I am pretty sure you will agree that this cream is better than anything you could buy in the store.
