Happy Birthday Frisby
I cannot believe it, my incredible horse is 20 years old today! My sweet boy, whom I have had for the past 11 years is 20 years old! It’s like one of my children has grown up right before my eyes. Frisby has been the most incredible horse I have ever owned.
When I found him on Craigslist, his owner did not want to sell him, only lease him to an approved home. After a few sessions of riding him, and hanging out with her, she decided to do a care lease, meaning I could keep him at my house for free, in exchange for board. About a month after I had him, she decided to sell him to me, and I am so grateful she did.

She moved him the 60 miles to my house, and for the first time ever, Frisby was alone. We didn’t have a fancy barn, or other horses. I didn’t even have an enclosed stall for him. But he just went with the flow. We worked on learning how to canter, and lunge. And he was all by himself for the first 6 months I had him until we decided he needed a friend. And even after getting a companion horse for him, he still just went along with it, whatever that was for the day, week or month.

Once In A Lifetime Horse
Frisby did not have a lot of training under his belt when we became a pair, but he was kind, and we have learned together. I didn’t really understand how special he was until getting Ethan, my newer project horse.

I cannot believe I have had him for 11 years now! Where has the time gone? With the exception of my husband, I have to say this horse has been my truest friend.

Frisby does pretty much anything I ask of him. When I get the idea to practice anything, he is very accommodating. Don’t get me wrong, he has his moments, but overall, he will just try and try and try.

I am so grateful that this incredible creature came into my life, and so I have to say Happy Birthday to you my dear Frisby, my once in a lifetime horse.
