Creating horse art with AI technology – is this even possible? I had to find out for myself. Have you ever used an AI image generator? I hadn’t until recently. And I am very excited to share my experience with you!

Now I have no idea why I wanted to try this. I guess it was mainly out of curiosity. But now, I find myself thinking about images to try and create. I have thought of horses, tack rooms, grooming horses, barns, hooves, manes, muzzles, and….

Well, I think you get the idea. I have been spending a lot of time on the Microsoft Bing Image Creator recently. It’s free, so, why not?

AI generated equestrian images

And every image that is in this blog post was created (by me) by using Bing Image Creator. And I find the more I use it, the better I am getting at explaining to the program what I want. Let me show you what I mean…

Creating Horse Art with AI Technology

The first time I used the program, I was able to create a lot of different images. Unfortunately, I didn’t really know how to use it. So I assumed that it would save all of my creations for me. I assumed wrong! In order to keep all of the images, you have to save them. It isn’t hard to do. You just have to click the save button next to the image. And I really wish I had saved some of the first creations I made. Not because they were good. Oh no, completely the opposite. They were really bad.

Ai generated horse grooming image

Like this picture, for example. In the search bar, I typed in “a woman grooming a horse in a barn“. And this is what I got. I don’t know about you, but I have never worn rubber cleaning gloves while I’m grooming my horse.

Artistic Capabilities of AI Image Generators

I do not have a lot of experience with Image generators. The Bing one was the first one I had used. And then, I did a few searches for free AI image generators. There are quite a few, believe it or not. Here are some I have played around with:

And there are many, many more. I just thought I would share a few with you in case you were curious, like I was.

I am not a digital art guru by any stretch of the imagination. But the more I play with crafting images through the words I type in the search bar, the better the images become. Like this paint horse. He isn’t perfect, but specifying things like a portrait, a violet sky with stars beginning to shine through, and a natural background gave me this image. Not to shabby right?

Horse Artwork Produced by AI Algorithms

Let me show you some more of the images I was able to create, and some of the words I used to get the images.

For this image, all I typed into the search bar was Filigree horse and flowers

For this image, I was trying to reproduce what I looked like at my first horse show. I tried to be very specific. I typed in a young teenage girl with blonde hair riding a white horse with a shaggy mane and tail in a 1970s English saddle wearing an oversized light grey blazer and yellow breeches and rubber riding boots. This was the closest I could get. Oh how I wish I could find that photo! Grrrr.

I love this image. And to get it, I typed in a portrait of a dark bay warmblood horse in an Art Nouveau style. That is pretty cool! I also did it in a palomino.

These are probably two of my favorites.

And this is actually really pretty too. To get this image I typed in a close up view of a horse eye in black and white photography. I mean it isn’t perfect, but pretty good.

But not all of the images I created were horses. For this one, I typed in: an old red barn with mountains in the background wood fences and fields and a violet sky with stars starting to appear and also some planets in the sky. Not too shabby right? I find myself drawn to the violet sky for some reason.

fall image created with AI

And because fall is one of my favorites, I typed in: fall pumpkins stacked near a wagon wheel with autumn leaves on trees in the background in a realism style. I find if I play around with the ‘style’ I get some really interesting results.

Ok, and just one more…

This one was fun. Again, the violet sky. Kind of pretty? Right? Ok, I know I said that was the last one, but I have to end this post with a horse picture…

Ok, not the best one for sure. But it looks like a type of impressionism with watercolors. Not perfect sure. But I think all of the images I have shared here give you an idea of what you can do with an image creator. It’s kind of fun to play around with if you have some downtime.

Creating Horse Art with AI Technology

And if you want to see some of the really rough creations I made, I put together a video explaining the process of using the Bing Image Creator. It’s mildly entertaining. And as some viewers said, mildly disturbing as well. Check it out and see what you think.

And if you would like to learn a little bit more about actually making REAL photos, watch this video

It’s an oldie, but a goodie! Or you could read this blog post!
