Searching For The Perfect Grooming Tote
I have been on the hunt for a perfect grooming tote for a while now. I have tried the typical equine totes, and I have even made one. But I have not been able to find the ultimate grooming tote that I have always wanted.
I mean how hard is it to make a huge grooming tote that you can put everything in that you will need to get your horse ready? And if you have more than 1 horse, most likely, you have multiple grooming totes. Myself, I have 4. And they are packed full. Which means before riding, or even grooming my horses, I will typically have to go back and forth to the barn several times.
And since I have a tendency to accumulate a lot of grooming supplies, I have been searching and searching for the perfect grooming tote. And I think I have found it. But this is not advertised as a grooming tote, but it should be!
Best Grooming Tote Ever
The best option I have found for a grooming tote is a Husky multi-compartment tool box! It is on wheel too, so it is easy to move around, and take with you if you are going to a horse show, or if you have a long walk from the tack room to your horse.
It comes with 3 separate boxes that you can configure in any way you like. And if you need even more space, you can buy separate boxes that you can add to your entire kit.
I LOVE the 3 separate containers. The bottom one is tall enough to carry spray bottles, and it can hold a lot of them. So you can put your fly spray, showsheen, and whatever else you want into the bottom box.
In the second box, I keep all my brushes. And if you have seen any of my videos on my YouTube channel, you know I have a lot of brushes. But this compartment holds all of them with ease.
And the third, or top container has a lot of little compartments within the box. This is fantastic for holding a lot of different smaller horse related items. Or if you wanted too, you can remove all of the little holders, and have an empty box for boots, bridles, leads, halters, or whatever you want!
Here are the specifics from the manufacturer:

What Does It Cost?
Ok, since I have now sold you on this incredible grooming tote option, I bet you’re wondering how much it costs. And I found this one at Home Depot for $79.97. Yes, it is more expensive than the 15.00 grooming totes, but you only need one. And if you compare it to the fancy Noble Outfitters fancy grooming bag/tote at $55.00, you get a lot more for your money with the Husky.
And this rolling ‘tool box’ matches my larger tack box, which also is a Husky tool box. The large tack trunk is even more affordable, at $64.00. And my tack trunk, AKA Husky tool box, also came with it’s own grooming tote that fits inside of the large tack trunk.
And if you were to go to an equestrian company to find such things, it would cost you a LOT more. For example, an affordable tack trunk will cost you around $185.00. And as far as the grooming caddy/tool box, I haven’t been able to find anything similar, even in equestrian gear stores.
All In One Convenience
Yes, it is not really a budget item. But, for what it saves me in time, and organization it is worth the investment, in my opinion. To be able to have all my grooming equipment in one container, and all of my supplies with me, no matter where I am is a bonus. And a grooming caddy like this also saves space. The totes are stacked on top of each other, and it is easy to keep everything organized. And since space is usually a very valuable commodity in any tack room, organization and best use of that space is vitally important.
And to be honest, I do like to be matchy-matchy. All of the Husky tool boxes are similar in appearance, which is an added bonus. You can even personalize the tool boxes so they fit your personality. You can add your name with decals from places like Amazon, or Hobby Lobby.
Buy This Box
If you are looking for an all-in-one tote with tons of space, and more than you will probably ever need, please consider this tool box. You can customize it to your needs, and I really think you will be happy. I think it’s important to look at alternatives for equestrian related equipment. By having an open mind, and looking to not necessarily equestrian items, you can get the perfect items you need, without a hefty price tag to match!
You can find it at the Home Depot Here, and they have it on Amazon too. It is a little more expensive on Amazon, but if you don’t have a Home Depot close to you, this might be a viable option.
Hi Lisa! I love your blog posts! Just wondering if you’re still using this as your groom tote or if you use the Noble Outfitters one (that you have a later post about)? Do you still enjoy this one? Do you find it gets cumbersome?
Hi Hannah 🙂
I do use my Noble Outfitters tote on a daily basis. It is by far the easiest to use, and it holds everything I need. The Husky tool box is awesome, but I mainly use that now to store all of the extras that I have. It can be cumbersome, but I mainly wanted to use it to take to horse shows. That way I could put my Nobel Outfitters tote in the bottom, and then all of the extra necessities would go into the other compartments. But for home, and on a regular basis I love the Noble Outfitters tote so much!
