April Saddle Box Unboxing
If you have been reading my blog for a while now, you might have known that I have teamed up with Saddle Box, and in exchange for writing a blog post a week for them, I get a Saddle Box that I get to give away to someone each month. And that is what I am going to do today, at the end of this post.
But before I get into the giveaway, I wanted to share my thoughts with you about the Saddle Box subscription box for April 2018.
Benefits Of Subscribing To Saddle Box
I have been subscribed to Saddle Box for almost a year now. And most of the boxes have been really great, and I have gotten a lot of use out of the products and I have learned about new products that are now my favorites. And I would have never known of these products if I was not a subscriber to the Saddle Box subscription. Some of my favorites so far have been the Epona shed flower shedder, a little Decker face brush and my most favorite is the Kiss My Horse product line. They are difficult to find! The only way I have been able to find them is by going to Ms. Conn’s website, and buying them directly from them. But they have a detangler that is the best I have ever used on my horses manes and tails. It is the best, seriously, and I love the way it smells too. And I would have never known about the product if I had not gotten it to try in my Saddle Box subscription. I love it so much, I even made a video about it, to share it with others in case they haven’t heard of it either.
April 2018 Saddle Box
Ok, so how about I go over the items that came in the Saddle Box for April?
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was they have chosen a horse ambassador of the month, how cool is that? Penelope the pony was the ambassador of the month for Saddle Box.
Lemon Nicker Doodles Horse Cookies
This is my horses favorite part of the Saddle Box, the homemade treats! And these cookies smell so so so good! They smelled good enough for me to eat! And after I read the ingredients and shared them with my horses I totally tried one too! It was pretty yummy.
And my favorite part about the horse treats is you can find the recipe to make more of them over on the Saddle Box website.
Mink Oil Liquid
I love getting leather care products, and this month I got a bottle of mink oil. And it was a nice big bottle of oil which will be helpful for adding some oil to all of my leather tack. I just got a new saddle, and it could use some oil too, so I am happy this came in the box this month.
If you have never used mink oil for leather, you apply it to the leather after it has been cleaned and allowed to dry. The leather will suck up the oil, and it will help the leather to remain softer and pliable. And it will help to prevent it from cracking and getting dried out.
Complete Braiding Kit
Now this is fun! The complete braiding kit consisted of:
This set is awesome! And it came in my favorite colors, I don’t know if that was on purpose, or by accident but however it happened it’s awesome! I really want to work on practicing my braiding skills on my horses, and now I can practice a lot! The little plastic braiding comb is very nice. You simply comb it down, and it gives you the perfect amount of hair for a mane braid.
And the more you practice, the better your braids will be!
If you practice braiding a lot and get really good at it you could even make some extra money by offering your services for horse shows. I am always looking for opportunities to make a little bit of extra money.
Cowboy Magic Shampoo
I really like Cowboy Magic products. I have used this shampoo in the past, mainly because I got it in another subscription box. It is a good shampoo, it rinses well and gets the dirt out. I don’t really give my horses a lot of baths though, because where I live, and where I keep my horses I don’t really need to bathe them all the time. But I do wash their hooves, and occasionally they get a bath. So I am happy to have a bottle of shampoo, just in case I feel the need to give my horses a bath.
And because I don’t have access to hot water for bathing my horses, I like to have a shampoo that rinses well and the Cowboy Magic shampoo does rinse really well and easily. This way there isn’t a soap residue build up n my horses coats.
Epona Lead Rope Boot Socks
Like I wrote earlier, I love getting introduced to products, or companies I have never heard of before. And I had never used any Epona products until I started getting Saddle Box. I really like Epona products! And these boot socks are nice. They are stretchy, and lightweight. This is perfect for the warmer weather coming up!
They are cute and have a fun pattern on them. And I tend to go through socks, so I am happy to have a new pair of boot socks. I wear them every day too, not only when I have on my tall boots!
Final Thoughts on Saddle Box
Overall, I am really happy with the Saddle Box as a surprise box that I get in the mail every month. I have had some people share their thoughts with me, and they don’t think it’s a very good deal, meaning the value is not good for the cost. But, for the type of items they include in the box each month, I think it’s worth it. I think people have gotten used to different monthly subscription boxes where they tout the value really high versus what you pay for it. Boxy charm comes to mind. The “value” of Boxy charm is usually around $125-150, and the cost is around $20.00. But the products included are make-up and skin care items, so the perceived value makes it look like you are getting a killer deal. But in reality, when I had my Boxy Charm subscription, I only used 1 or 2 of the items in the box. And as a comparison, when I get my Saddle Box subscription, I use everything in the box. So the perceived value and the real value is two totally different things, in my opinion.
For myself, I love the surprise factor, and I really enjoy the products I receive. So I will continue to subscribe to Saddle Box for a very long time! If you want to try them for yourself, just go to their website and sign up! If you haven’t ever subscribed before, they usually have a coupon code that can save you some money off your first month.
Or you could always check out my monthly unboxing video of Saddle Box, and enter the drawing I have, and try to get one that way! Which means, right now it is time to pick a winner for the April Saddle Box!
Who Gets A Free Saddle Box?
And this month, there were over 60 people who left a comment for me on my video of what their favorite colors were for their horses. Everyone who shared their favorites with me, gave me some really fun ideas!
If you left a comment, thank you so much for taking the time to do so. I really suck at replying to comments on my YouTube videos, mainly because I don’t do well with negative comments. Sometimes I am afraid to read the comments, because I am afraid of what people say. And what I don’t know can’t hurt me right?I know that probably sounds silly, but that’s how I am.
So when I have to read the comments, because I am having a giveaway, and I see all of the nice things people say, well that completely makes my day! So to all of you who left a comment, thank you so much!
They were so many names, they look ultra small on the wheel! But I promise, everyone who left a comment with the favorite colors for their horses is there.
And the random name spinner picker thing has choosen the winner! And the winner is…..
Congratulations Scottie Drewry!!!
Please send me an email to lisa@budgetequestrian.com, and I will pass your information on to Saddle Box and we will get your Saddle Box too you!
That is it for April guys! Be sure to check back in May, around the 17th for a new Saddle Box unboxing video, and another chance for you to win your very own Saddle Box for free! That will probably be one of the last videos I am able to post before I have surgery, I don’t know, we will see how I am feeling. But at least I know I will be able to get the video out. And because of my surgery, I will be holding the drawing for the winner for next month a few days after I upload that video. So if you want to know when the video is up, so you will have a chance to enter the drawing, subscribe to my YouTube channel, The Budget Equestrian, and be sure to click the bell icon so you will get an email of when I upload a new video!
