affordable Christmas presents for equestrians

Affordable Gift Ideas For Equestrians

Well, it’s that time of year again, time to find the perfect gift for your favorite horsey person! Let’s face it, horse stuff can be really expensive. And even if you are incredibly specific, you may not get what you have been wishing for. So instead of setting yourself up to have to return something, how about thinking about the things we all need on a daily basis, to make the most of the time we have with our horses.

The two words affordable and equestrian don’t really seem to go together do they? But with a little bit of an imagination, they can! If you have a horse lover in your life, it can be challenging to find the right gift. And even though you are probably an equestrian reading this, you might want to pass the information on to whomever may be buying you a gift for the holidays, or anytime for that matter. Or use this as a catalyst to jump start your list of gifts that you would like to receive.

And to make it simple, since most people know how to shop on Amazon, I have included links to each of these items that can be found on Amazon.

HAAS Finishing Brush

gift ideas for equestrians

Horse brushes are always a good idea for horse people. We all have our favorite brushes, and I can honestly tell you, we can never have enough brushes when it comes to pampering our ponies. My favorite brushes are by Haas. This is a German company that makes incredible brushes for horses. I have been updating my grooming box with HAAS brushes because they are so great! And this finishing brush is very nice, will produce a fantastic shine on your horse, and would make a great gift for your favorite equestrian. It is an affordable high quality brush at $22.50

SSG Lined Leather Gloves

affordable equestrian gifts

If it is cold and winter where you live, and even if it isn’t, these gloves are great. They are fantastic for working in the barn and doing chores and yet still offer enough feel for riding. When it is cold outside, these gloves are my go to gloves for anything I am doing outside. And they last.

I am really hard on everything I own. I mean, I really use and abuse the stuff I wear. And these gloves stand up to the “Lisa” test. A pair of these gloves will not last me forever, but they do last at least 2 years. These gloves are warm, without being heavy. Out of any pair of gloves I have ever bought, these are the ones I will buy over and over again, and highly recommend to everyone, horse people or not. They are very affordable at $ 21.00 a pair.

C4 Belt: Arrows White Strap/Gold Chrome Buckle

affordable equestrian gifts

I love C4 belts. And they are coming up with new patterns and fun designs. What makes these belts so great is they really last. They are made from a silicone material, so they don’t stretch out like traditional leather belts. They are trendy, and fun too. And they are affordable. You can get a nice show/every day belt for less than $35.00.

And you don’t even have to worry about getting the right size! One size fits most with these belts. You just cut off the excess material, and you have a custom fit belt for you. They are easy to clean, and look great. There are many different patterns and colors available too. So you can find the perfect belt for your favorite equestrian.

German Minty Muffins Horse Treats

If I have extra money to splurge, this is what I buy. My horses love these horse treats. And this size container will last for at least a month. These treats are a nice size that you can cut in half and basically get 2 treats for the price of one.

And once the treats are all gone, you still have a nice container to fill with homemade horse treats, or whatever treats you want to keep in here.

They aren’t the most affordable horse treats, however they are the best value that I have found. On Amazon, this container only costs about $19.00.

Effax Leather Care Kit

Gift Ideas For Equestrians

This is by far one of my most favorite things I have bought for myself, and it would make a perfect gift for any equestrian. It is a little more expensive at $38.00, but it is a gift that will keep on giving.  And buying it on Amazon is less expensive than even Dover’s!  If your favorite equestrian loves clean and conditioned tack, trust me, this is a win. This is the best all in one tack cleaning kit I have found. Included in this kit is:

  • Effax Leder-Combi deeply cleans and nourishes leather without making it greasy.
  • Effax Leather-Balm nourishes, protects and restores leather, making it supple and less likely to tear. It’s formulated with natural lanolin, avocado oil and beeswax.
  • Effax Boot Polish shines up your riding boots. This polish is so dirt-resistant and water-repellent that they’ll shine up again more quickly.
  • Effax Speedy Leather Shine with sponge is a quick and easy way to shine up leather.
  • Effax Leather-Grip-Stick lends a good firm grip to leather.
  • Effax Shoe Brush removes even stubborn stains.
  • Micro-fiber cloth deeply penetrates into the leather fibers.
  • Soft sponge that is perfect for the thorough care and cleaning of the leather.

And the products are so incredible. Once you start using the Effax brand of leather cleaners and conditioners, I am confident you will not find a better product.

Knotted Rope Clinician Style Halter

Gift Ideas For Equestrians

This is the best halter for working with horses. If you want to gain control and earn the respect of your horse, you need this halter. You can buy the Clinton Anderson one for about $75.00, or you can buy this one made by Knotty Girlz for around $18.00. If you are just getting into natural horsemanship, or are looking for a fantastic training tool, this is the first thing you need.

I know, it’s difficult to break away from the tradition of a ‘real’ halter. But once you have put this on your horse, and seen the difference, you will be sold.

½” Yacht Rope Lead

Gift Ideas For Equestrians

This is the matching lead rope that will help with your training for your horse. And would make an excellent gift! Again, this is from Knotty Girlz. They have very high quality products at affordable prices. And yes, this is expensive at $38.00, but it’s worth it. These lead ropes last forever, and have so many uses. So if you are wanting to make the most of the time that you have with your horse, you might want to ask for this lead rope, along with the rope halter for the holidays.

Heavy Duty Headlamp

Gift Ideas For Equestrians

I know, this isn’t sexy, or glamorous, but it is extremely practical and a great gift for equestrians! The reason I like this headlamp so much is that it has a rechargeable battery, so you can plug it in to recharge the long lasting battery.

This is affordable too at around $23.00. If your favorite horse person spends a lot of time at the barn, in the dark, this is very handy to have.

The Gift Card Option

And even though this may not be original, but if your favorite horse person is very particular about what they like for their riding or their horses, why not get them a gift card to their favorite saddle shop, whether online or in your local area? I know I would be stoked if I got a gift card to Dover’s Saddlery, or Riding Warehouse. Then you would be awesome in their eyes for knowing about online horse stores, and they could get exactly what they want.

And just in case your favorite equestrian already has everything on this list (like I do) I think in my next post I will tell you about some different places to shop online. They are bound to have some great deals for the holidays, so you might be able to get some great deals on some things that your horse person may be searching for. So let’s kick off this holiday shopping season with getting gifts for people they will really use throughout the upcoming year!

I am horse crazy and love DIY projects, and finding great deals on everything horse related. When I have a new idea, or find a great deal I love sharing this information with you.
