Fall is just about here. I can feel it in the air, and the days are getting just a little bit shorter. I have to say this is my most favorite time of year. The kids are back in school, and everyone is falling back into their ‘fall’ routine.
I had so much fun sharing with you some of the things I was window shopping via the internet a few posts ago that I wanted to share some of the things I bought for my bedroom update. So I thought I would share 10 things that I love, and bought for my affordable bedroom update, or makeover. Whatever you want to call it.

10 Things I Love – Affordable Bedroom Style
First, I want to take you back to what our bedroom used to look like….
Wow, that’s a big bed! I didn’t really think about it you know? All of the furniture was so big. And dark! The furniture really overpowered the room and made it look small, and added to the darkness factor. It looks like a cave from the picture! So the first thing we did was get a new bed. And it was time. We have had this bed for almost as long as we have been a couple. And that is a long time!
Kanwyn Storage Bed
We bought this bed about 6 months ago, and I absolutely LOVE it. Not only is it pretty, but it also has storage at the foot of the bed. Almost like a built in chest. The storage cabinet holds extra pillows, blankets, and whatever else we have that needs to be tucked away.
An yes, it is still a big bed. But I love having a king size bed. It’s nice to cuddle, but at the same time, it’s also nice to have extra space while snoozing. I think the storage compartment at the end of the bed is my favorite part of the bed. You can never have enough storage right?
Bamboo Bed Sheets
I am always looking for comfy sheets. But they have to be sturdy too, I want them to last. And I was searching on Amazon for a new set of high quality sheets, and I found these Bamboo Sheets. And they are lovely. Super soft, and silky. For the warmer nights they are just right to keep you cool, yet comfortable. The sheets are made out of 100% viscose derived from bamboo, which I don’t understand that lingo. But I do understand soft. And that is exactly what these sheets are! So soft!
Farmhouse Ruffled Skirt Bedspread Set
I love a bedspread that goes all the way to the floor. No need for a bed skirt with this spread. I love that. It’s all one piece, and it’s the perfect weight for 3 seasons out of the year. Then, when it gets colder and my feet get colder, I can put an extra blanket at the foot of the bed. But for now, while it’s warm, this is a wonderful bedspread.
The color is true to what is represented in the ad too. And there is a cool pattern on the top with a little extra fill – but it’s not heavy. And the set even includes a pair of matching pillow covers too. This is such a nice bedspread, and it’s machine washable too!

With the bed, the sheets, and the bedspread, my affordable bedroom update could be complete at this point. But there are a few more things to share with you.
Wireless Charger Fast Charging Pad
Gone are the days of plugging your phone in to charge. Now they have these super fancy, and affordable charging pads for phones. Talk about ease of use and convenience factor! I love having a charging pad next to my bed.
Double Stitched Faux Leather Placemats
Did you notice the placemat in the previous picture? Yep – I brought placemats into my bedroom. I know, that’s not how they are typically used. But they work! And they look really nice on the night table. They also offer a little protection, and a great place to put a glass of water, so I don’t have to worry about a ring from the glass.
The placemats come in a set of 4 , and also include a set of matching coasters. And if gray is not your color, they have other colors too! This is a great, and affordable set of placemats. They are also easy to clean too!
Sprayway Glass Cleaner
This is by far the best glass cleaner I have used. It’s also ammonia free, which is a good thing if you have fancy windows. If you truly want streak free windows, and mirrors this is the glass cleaner to buy. Sometimes it can be difficult to find locally. So I do buy it from Amazon. I can usually buy a 2 pack of the spray for less than $10. And it’s made in the USA, so that makes me happy too.
Set of 2 Stacked Crystal Ball Table Lamps
When I bought my crystal ball lamps, a long long time ago, they were very expensive. But now that they are more popular, you can find them for a lot less than I paid for mine. Like this set of 2 lamps, just over $100! I paid more than that for ONE of my lamps, and that didn’t even include the lampshade. I had to find that myself. Do you know how hard that is? For someone who is challenged with designing, and then I have to complete the look by finding a lampshade? Thankfully Amazon has a lot of affordable lighting options. And while I am talking about lighting, I have one more thing to share…
Cool White Lightbulbs – Pack of 6
I know, lightbulbs aren’t something you really think about. But my brain, well I think about lightbulbs. And one thing I have learned is that I prefer a cool white bulb. The soft white, and the daylight bulbs are too warm for me. I prefer the cool lighting. Literally. And these lightbulbs are amazing! They are LED bulbs, so they last longer and use less electricity. They also come in a 6 pack, and cost less than buying them locally. I have had really good results with these bulbs, which is why I keep buying them.
Looped Entwined Love Knot Sculpture
And as I was looking through Amazon, I found this sculpture. It is SO pretty! It is made of soapstone. Each sculpture is hand-carved from a single piece of Kisii soapstone, found only in the hills of southwestern Kenya. How awesome is that? They create these beautiful sculptures. I think this will be an awesome art accent piece for our bedroom.
Ceiling Fan with Lights
The last thing I need to do to really update our mater bedroom is to get a new ceiling fan. Our current one is starting to make noise because we use it continuously. And ceiling fans are not cheap anymore. But there is also a lot more modern choices. And I found this one, and was super interested.
This is a 20″ flush mount ceiling fan and it is less expensive than buying one locally. The fixture has 3 adjustable colors too – warm light, neutral light and white light. And there are three fan speeds, low/medium/high. Light color and speeds can be adjusted with the handheld remote control or APP that you put on your phone. How cool is this? Literally! This is something that I already have in my Amazon shopping cart, and will be purchasing on my next shopping session.

So these are the 10 things that I am in absolute love with while I work on styling, or restyling our bedroom. The makeover is just about complete, with just a few more purchases to go. For myself, refreshing our bedroom is something I really enjoy doing. And then after 10 years or so, I find it’s time to do it again.
But for now, this will be perfect as we transition from one season to another. And I will have to share some photos on my Instagram when I get the last few items. So if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go relax on my bed now, and take in my updated bedroom!
