I am so excited, I feel like tomorrow is Christmas. Ok, I know that’s a bit dramatic. But I am pretty excited. Tomorrow, Saturday, September 23, 2023 is the annual tack sale and open house for my most favorite horse rescue, Drifter’s Hearts of Hope.

Horse Tack Sale

For those of you who don’t know, both of my current horses, Timon and Pumbaa, are from Drifter’s. This is the most incredible place I have seen. I have been to a few horse rescues, but none are anything like Drifter’s.

Horse Tack Sale!

And this tack sale is not just a sale, oh no. It is also an open house, along with a showcase of a few of the adoptable horses they have available.

And, well, the tack sale portion too. Yes, I am very excited to see what they have to sell. And all of the tack and items that they are selling are from donations. They have this tack sale every year to help with the rehabilitation and veterinary costs for the horses they care for. And if you have horses, you know how expensive they can be to care for when they are healthy.

Now, think about rehabilitating horses that have had a rough go. It is a labor of love for the volunteers, But love isn’t going to pay the bills. So they have fundraisers such as this one to help out. I did my part by donating a lot of the tack I had originally planned on selling after losing Frisby and Plezant. Oh, how I loved those boys.

My sweet horses

And while I was trying to raise money for my new equines after I had them and saw how incredible Drifters Hearts of Hope is, I decided I needed to donate the things that I had left to them. They need the money way more than I do. I also decided it was a nice way to give back to the rescue and honor the memory of my two horses.

rest in peace Plezant

Maybe that saddle pad that I used for Plezant will help to raise some money for the rescue. And at the same time, bring joy to someone else.

And maybe the money raised will help them rehab just one more horse until they can find their forever home. And well, I am looking for some new treasures for myself as well. I am always looking for equestrian treasures!

But not only are they having a tack sale, but also a showcase of the horses ready for their forever homes.

I’m pretty excited to see Irish. He is the horse that I really wanted to bring home. It was tough deciding between Timone and Irish. But in the end, I trusted the volunteers about which horse would be best for me, and they were so right.

I love this horse so much, and feel so grateful to have him in my life! And I can’t forget about my little buddy Pumbaa.

Oh my goodness, that face! I love this little guy! And these are just 2 of the horses that were saved thanks to what Drifter’s does. They actually have rescued 700 horses in the past 9 years. Talk about dedication.

Come Out and Support an Incredible Cause

If you live in the Franktown, Colorado area, you should come to check out Drifter’s tomorrow! The fun begins at 10:00 AM and goes until 2:00 PM. If you are curious, or looking for some new treasures, or a new best friend, this is the place to be.

My friends Lynda, Vickie and myself will be there to show our support for this incredible organization.

I know they would love the support. And the horses would be so happy to see you too. Maybe I will see you there!

You can find the location and directions on their website – Drifter’s Hearts of Hope. If you do stop by, please let them know that I sent you. I want them to know how you found out about them!
