July Saddle Box Unboxing
Yes! It’s my most favorite time of the month, because in the mail my monthly Saddle Box came! It’s always fun to get something in the mail, especially when it isn’t a bill!
I really enjoy the Saddle Box subscription. For $34.95 a month, I get a box of horse related items shipped to me. Not only do I get things I know I will use for my horses, like horse treats, but I also get things I may not have thought about buying. And Saddle box gives me the opportunity to try out new products for my horses. I love that.
So, how about we go over what came in this month’s surprise box?
Saddle Box Horse Ambassadors

Each month they include a card that tells you what comes in the box. But on the other side of the card, they have a couple of ambassador horses. And if you would like thousands of people seeing your horse with his own Saddle Box, you just have to tag Saddle box on either Instagram or Facebook.
I like that they do this, it’s like a thank you for buying the box every month.
Bounce Back Electrolyte Powder

This is nice to have because you never know when you may need it. And It’s better to have it and not need it, rather than to need it and not have it. This will make a great addition to my first-aid kit.
The retail cost of this supplement is $2.95.
Pyrhana Pyrethrin Shampoo

I have never used this product, but it makes sense for fly season. It is an insecticide shampoo, and probably wouldn’t be my first choice. But if it works, I would consider buying it. I think this is like a sample size, because it is 3.4 ounces. I hope I am able to get a few baths out of the bottle for both of my horses. If it works good, I may have to write a full review on it, and let you know how it worked.
Since this is a sample size, it’s difficult to find a retail value of it. But I would say the retail value is around $1.39.
Manna Pro Apple Nugget Horse Treats

I have bought these horse treats for my horses before, and they love them. I like the small size of the treats, and I just have to refrain from giving them too many treats. Both of my horses get way to many treats, and I am trying to be good and not feed them as many. And being able to give them a small ‘thank you’ treat is something that I like.
This is a 1 lb. bag of treats, and the retail value is $4.29
Tough One Pocket Sweat Scraper

I love that this came to me in purple. I love anything purple. And having an extra sweat scraper is always nice. Because as with all of my horse stuff, I tend to use it and misplace it. So I am hopeful that I will be able to find this when I give my horses a bath! This is a nice size and it fits easily in my hand, which should make it easy to use for bath time.
It’s made of hard plastic, and it seems to be really durable.
The retail value of this sweat scraper is $1.49
Tough One Jelly Massage/Scrub Mitt

Again, this came to me in one f my favorite colors, green. And I already have one of these, and my horses absolutely love it. The massage action feels good to them. And I know this because of the facial expressions they make while I am rubbing them with this massager.
It is made from plastic, but it does have a little flexibility that allows it to conform to your hand somewhat.
The retail value of this grooming mitt is $3.29. Or you can go on Amazon and buy the 4-piece kit for $12.99.
Hydra Honeycomb Sponge

Now this is a BIG sponge. And the quality is definitely there. This sponge can even be sterilized, so you can keep it clean and it will last a long time. I am so glad they sent this sponge, it’s fantastic for bathing.
The retail value f this sponge is $6.95
Saddle Box Sticker

Now this was just cute. Saddle box hasn’t ever put anything like this in their boxes before, and I like it. It’s like one of those motivational sayings that you can put up, and use it as a reminder for yourself. Like this sticker for example, I think about how excited my horses get when they think they are escaping. Yeah, live like that.
I have no idea of what the value of this sticker would be, but I would guess it would be around $2.00
Hoof Pick with Brush

This could only be more perfect if it was in purple or green. But for me this is perfect timing to get this hoof pick, because I recently lost mine. And this hoof picks with the brush on the end is my absolute favorite.
And this one has been personalized for The Right Horse Initiative which is promoting horse rescues, and teaming horses up with the person that best suits them. They are advocates for horse adoption, vs. sending horses to slaughter. So anyone that wants to promote horses in this way is alright by me. And I got a really cool hoof pick out of it!
The retail value of this hoof pick is around $2.00.
July 2018 Saddle Box Review – Yay or Neigh?
The box came packed this month with 8 items. And if I were to buy these 8 items on my own, it would have cost me $24.36. Whoa, now wait a minute, I could have bought everything in this box for less than the cost of the box. That’s kind of a bummer honestly. Yes, I got some nice items, but, the value definitely wasn’t there this month.
However, I really do like getting the box each month because I like the surprises. But if I can find these things for less on my own, it doesn’t really excite me to continue on with the subscription. However, I will continue the subscription mainly because I like surprises, but also so I can share it with you. But I have to say this months box was a Neigh, sorry Saddle Box, but it wasn’t that great.
Have you ever tried Saddle box? And after seeing this month’s box, what are your thoughts on subscription boxes? I would love to hear what you think! Oh, and just so you know, I do use some affiliate links in my blog posts. So if you were to buy something using my links, I make a small (very small) commission which helps me to continue doing what I do with my blog, so thank you for supporting my blog, and me!
