30 Day Blogging Challenge Day 30-My Future With Horses
Here we are at day number 30 in my 30-day blogging challenge! My quest is complete with this post. I cannot believe it!!!! I am a little excited to have completed this challenge. And honestly, it was a challenge. If you have been following this series for a while now, you will no doubt have a very good understanding of what my horses mean to me. As well as my goals, and plans. I found the idea for this series from the incredible blog She Moved To Texas, she did a 30-day blogging challenge and decided to emulate what she had done. And today is the final day, and the final post in this challenge, my future with horses.
The cool thing about the future is we are the masters of our own destiny. Our future is what we make it to be, and I know my future will always include horses.
My Future with Horses
I know in the short-term future, I really want to go to a few horse shows with both of my horses. However, going to a show is an expensive outing. Just as an example, I found a dressage show I would love to be able to go to. It is over 3 days, they have stalls, and the show is close by. But when I started to fill out the entry form, and add up the cost associated with this show I was a little surprised at the cost.

Each class is $60.00, and there are 3 classes each day I wanted to enter. But due to the cost, I would limit myself to 2 classes a day, so $120.00 per day. (x 3 days = $360.00) Add the cost of the stall: $200.00 for 3 days. Add the office charges, $249.00. My grand total to participate in this horse show would be $809.00! My heart sunk a little at the thought of this. That is a lot of money to ride in a horse show.
I keep trying to figure out how to justify the cost, but honestly, I can’t. There is a lot of other things I could do with $800.00. Maybe in the future, I would be able to justify that, but right now I just can’t.
So then I look at entering a local show that is basically a walk, trot, canter class. And the cost is a lot more reasonable, about $75.00 for one day of showing. That is more my style, for now.
Online Horse Shows
Another option I found, which I am really considering doing is a virtual horse show. Out of curiosity, I did a google search for online horse show, and I was happy to find there really is such a thing. There is one website that you can enter a virtual show with photos for around $6.00 per class. And even more exciting, you can compete in classes via video for around $22.00 per class. And the only thing I have to do is convince my husband to record my ride for about 4 1/2 minutes.

I think this is the way I am going to start my showing career, and then work up to the ‘live’ horse shows.
The biggest benefit I see for myself by competing in a virtual horse show is I don’t have to leave my property. Another benefit, the cost is significantly less than even going to a local small show. I will still get feedback from professional judges, and still can place in a class, and although this is a very selfish reason, but it’s still one of the motivators for me to even go to a show, I can win a ribbon!
I have no idea of why I am so obsessed with a little piece of satin, but I am, and I want it.

The three websites I have found that have online horse shows are all located out of the United States, but I can still participate! Yay! Two of the websites offer video classes with different dressage test. I get to actually ride, and I can also upload the videos to my YouTube channel. This is a bonus because I will have more videos to add to my channel which will help me to possibly have more videos than my husband one day, dare to dream.

But if you have ever considered showing in an online horse show here are the websites I have found:

How about you, have you ever wanted to show, but found the cost too much? Have you ever thought about participating in an online horse show? I would love to hear what your thoughts are on this topic!
