I love Christmas time. It’s one of my favorite times of the year. And every year I spend a little extra time adding lots of festive decor throughout my home. And this year, well let’s just say I stepped up my decorating game by including my bedroom.

Master Bedroom Makeover -Christmas Edition
But let’s take a step back, and look at my bedroom before I decided to add a little Christmas happiness.
We updated our bed finally. And I absolutely love it. It has a built in storage cabinet at the end where I am able to store clean sheets, and extra blankets. Hidden storage is always a plus in my opinion.
Next I really want to get the matching dresser.
Oh my. It is so beautiful. And we haven’t updated our dresser in over 20 years. So I think it’s time. Maybe after we do our taxes next year. But I digress….
About a month ago, I went into a real Pottery Barn store for the first time ever. And I saw the most beautiful bedroom set up for Christmas.
It was so beautiful. However, it was also really expensive. Completely out of my budget for sure. So I decided to see if I could make my bedroom look like the style of Pottery Barn, without the high cost. And sure, it doesn’t look like a Pottery Barn bedroom exactly, but I think it turned out really nice. And I was able to do it for less than $100.

I started with the bed. The bed is the focal point of the room, so I decided this was the best place to start. And I have been really happy with the comforters and bedspreads I have been finding on Amazon, so of course this is where I started.
I was looking for a neutral color for the base of the bed. And I found this King Bedspread Coverlet Set on Amazon for less than $50. It is perfect! It’s lightweight, but warm and it’s made of microfiber. It’s very pretty, and doesn’t wrinkle at all. A great look I think that we can use through out the year.
And then I wanted to add some red accents. Red is the main accent color I am using because it pops. And what color says Christmas more than red? So I found an adorable Waffle Textured Soft Fleece Blanket from Amazon.
While I was looking for a throw blanket, none of them were large enough to stretch across the bottom of our bed. So I decided to look at full size blankets instead. And when I saw this blanket, I knew this is the one I wanted. Not only is it red, but it has some texture.
I paired it with my original red quilt to make an impact at the foot of the bed. It seems like adding layers to the bed is what gives it a high end look. And this is exactly the look I was going for.
And then I added in some throw pillows to the storage area of the bed to complete the look.
I actually made the pillow with the reindeer on it. No, I do not have skills as a seamstress. And the ‘snowball’ pillow is actually an Easter pillow that I got at Hobby Lobby when it was 90% off last year. I think it makes a great snowball. Amazon has a lot of Christmas themed pillow covers that you can quickly makeover your throw pillows too.

And next I just added some of my DIY Christmas Decor that I have been sharing over on my YouTube channel, Lisa Goodwin DIY.
I even added a few Christmas pieces to our bathroom. Again, these were DIY things that I threw together, to bring the joy of the Christmas season to every room of our home. And a lot of the projects I make include things that I have found at the Dollar Tree. I love the Dollar Tree!
And wa-la! I have a Christmas themed bedroom! I was able to do this complete makeover with a few new things, a few things that I made, and I have a Holly Jolly bedroom that is full of Christmas Magic.
And my total investment for this festive makeover was less than $100. Take that Pottery Barn!

I even made a video of the entire process of the makeover. It was so much fun to do this. I have never started my holiday decorating in my bedroom. But I am really glad I did this year.
