How to Earn Extra Money
This is day 2 of my VEDA challenge. And so far, so good, 2 days done! One thing I am always working on is improving. Improving myself, my videos, my writing, my riding, and well, I think you get the idea. But in order to improve my videos, I need to improve my equipment. And improving videos, means practice and buying better equipment, which isn’t cheap. Just like having horses, because video equipment isn’t cheap either. And we can’t forget showing, because that is when you start to drop some serious money. But don’t let that stop you, I will show you how I earn extra money to support my expensive habits.
It is cold and rainy and snowy at my house today, so no riding will be happening. But instead of just sitting around having a marathon session of watching The Vampire Diaries, I am going to make use of the down time I have.
For our household, I am the main income earner. My husband works from home, doing his own business, which he loves. And I am fortunate to have a job which I love. It just happens to pay really well too. So we can live the lifestyle we enjoy basically on my income.
But that doesn’t mean I get to spend everything I want on my video equipment, horses, or showing. So if I want stuff, I have to earn the money to get it. Which is what I am doing today, earning some extra income. It isn’t hard either, where there’s a will there’s a way. Meaning if you want something bad enough, you will find a way to make it happen.
How I Earn Extra Money
Case in point; I need a better camera for creating my videos. I have done my research, and I decided the best option for me is the Canon 70D, with a 30 mm art lens. But it’s not cheap. The camera and lens will cost around $1300.00. So how am I going to get $1300.00 for my dream camera? I could say easy, but it isn’t easy. It takes work, but it will happen. Today I am listing stuff for sale on eBay. I have talked about this before, how I make extra money on eBay. But my goal today is to get 50 auctions listed on eBay with my treasures!
That may seem like a lot, but it really isn’t that much.
How I Sell on eBay
For the first 50 auctions, I have individual items I have been saving (hoarding) to list. And the remainder of the items are products that I have made, I list 9 items and have 50 off each item to sell ranging in price from $8.00 to $28.00, which if I sold every item would = $5400.00 (approximately). I know I won’t sell $5400.00 in 30 days, but I have those items listed, so that if they do sell I will have a nice little chunk of money for my horse habit, as well as my video habit.
The items that I have to sell straight out are things that I have found, or no longer need, and in a few instances, good deals I have found at thrift stores that I know I can make a profit on by reselling the items.
I love selling items on eBay. It’s addicting to me. And it is extra income, so I can buy what I want without having to tap into my regular paycheck, it helps me to reduce the guilt of spending money!
And this is my plan for showing Ethan as well. In order to go to horse shows, I have to have the cash for the entry fees and office charges as well as the trailer to get him there. All of those expenses are going to come out of my “extra” (eBay) money.
Think Outside of the Box
If you don’t think you can do eBay, there are other things you can do to make money. Something as simple as getting a part time job, or even mowing lawns. You could start an etsy store, or even write a book. If you want some inspiration, I recommend visiting Gary Vaynerchuk’s YouTube channel. That man can motivate you into action! He has a great video for you to start with, it’s called the Flip challenge. And if you are lost wondering what you could do, you should watch this video. He will motivate you, trust me.
It will not be easy. You will have to work. But the work is the fun part, it’s a challenge. Nothing worth having ever comes easy right? It takes dedication and hard work in order to get what you want, regardless of what that is. You just have to be willing to do the work.
You are only limited by yourself. If there is something you want, stop making excuses, and start making some money!
